Question

Has anyone else run across this. I've been trying to sync my Visor Deluxe with Outlook 98 on my home PC. I've been doing this on my work PC for over a year, and I got a new sync cradle for Christmas, so thought I'd try syncing at home also. Everything worked the first time (I sync everything but email since I use Outlook Express for that and I don't want my home email to get mixed up with my work email). But, the next day, the syncs to Outlook failed. My sync logs generally look like this:

HotSync operation started 12/29/00 10:13:16 PM
OK Expense
OpenMsgStore: An unexpected error has occurred.
MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured. (8004010f)
-- Outlook Calendar
OpenMsgStore: An unexpected error has occurred.
MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured. (8004010f)
Error connecting to Outlook.
Error Code = 101d
Outlook Calendar synchronization failed
OpenMsgStore: An unexpected error has occurred.
MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured. (8004010f)
-- Outlook Contacts

... and so on.

I keep getting this nagging message about PSTPRX.DLL and nothing will sync. I can't find this file on my PC and when I've searched for it on the web, it appears to have something to do with faxing with Windows 2000 (I'm using Win 95 with no fax capabilities installed); but I can't find a copy of the file or any suggestions to fix the problem.

The only thing that I found to fix this temporarily was to reinstall Outlook 98: the sync would work, but after awhile (I think maybe after a warm reboot of the PC), the same problem starts over again.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try this from the PocketMirror FAQ.

Thumbs up

Thank you very much!

Downloading the update to the sync program (as suggested in the FAQ you pointed me to) fixed the problem. Everything works great now. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
