Lightbulb

Everyone,

With all the technical expertise out there, who can find the plans or spec sheet to upgrade the Visor's internal memory? I looked on the Hitachi website and found the chips that were mentioned in previous posts, but this isn't any good without the plans to install them.

I know there's someone out there who has seen or had this "upgrade" done. Since most of us don't live in Honk Kong or Singapore, let's spread the knowledge around!

Anyone have any data on this procedure to share with everyone?

Thanks!

Jason

It's definatly is not a procedure for the timid. It would require find the appropriate replacement chip and then unsoldering the old one from the mother board and soldering on the new one. The pins for these chips are very small and close together.

I for one would like to take my Visor up to the max limit of 64 megs (or so I read).

I saw a posting at http://www.palmstation.com/
regarding someone doing the upgrade for $149, including shipping.

If you don't want to take the chance of messing it up yourself, you might want to try going here .

Good luck.

Cool My Prism has 16mb of RAM!

I had the used Prism I bought on Ebay upgraded to 16mb of internal RAM by Tony Rudenko at PalmPilotUpgrade.com. I couldn't be happier!! The work was great as was the service. He is in NJ. I highly recommend him. He upgrade all different Palms and Visors and some can even go to 32mb. 16mb was the max for the Prism.

With 16mb of RAM and the VisorPhone I have all the functionality of the color Treo and still can replace my phone battery if I need to as well as use the springboard for other modules on accaision like my 8mb flas module or the 16mb backup module (works great by the way). The only shortcomings are that it is a real brick and it apparently will never be GPRS compatible.
