Question

OK, OK, yes I realize this is VisorCentral and not PalmCentral... but this crowd seems to be very well-informed so please forgive me...
I am deciding between a Palm V/Vx (BOO! HISS!) Seriously, the size is what sold me... however, I need your help. I plan on using the unit for organization (imagine that!) and to get info from AvantGo on the web (after I shell out more $$ for the modem)... That's about it. My question: Is 2 MB enough to do this with? (I can't help but wonder why 3COM designed the Palm VII with only 2 MB if it's really that inadequate)... So tell me, if you can get a Palm Vx at around $449 or a Palm V at around $300, is the Vx really worth it? I don't want to waste $150, but also don't want to be stuck with a poor unit. Thanks in advance... also, are there any creative 3rd party solutions for the V/Vx modem, or is 3 COM's the best one to buy? THX!

Talking

What you need depends on how many channels you subscribe to. Personally I subscribe to many channels, and require 2MB for Avantgo

What prompts me to go for Visor is the hotsync time. USB will shorten the download time significantly

Get the Vx (or if you can wait, the Visor Deluxe). Avantgo grows like weeds, so the extra memory will be a blessing. You'll also find other uses (even carrying books with you can be a pleasure, despite the small screen).

Note: Innogear will be releasing a Springboard called the Six-Pack which integrates 8 mb flash ram, voice recorder, modem, and LED/vibrating alarm, all in the Springboard slot (nothing sticking out). Even if it cost $200 you're no more expensive than the Palm Vx, and you have it all -- plus.

I realize the Vx form factor is terrific (it really does fit in a shirt pocket), but I'm about to take mine back before time runs out on my return privileges, while I wait for the Visor Deluxe.
