Question

Hey all, I'm new here and I'm looking to buy the Handspring Deluxe. Now my question is, is the handspring deluxe going to drop in price anytime soon? My thinking is that it's about the same as the Palm IIIxe, but about $50 more, so will Handspring drop the price at all anytime soon?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Good question. To be honest, I'm surprised they didn't drop the prices a little when they introduced the Prism and Platnum. I suspect that price drops are on their way. I'd be really surprised if they don't drop prices a bit for Christmas.

I think a better ides is to use one of those online cupons (often found at www.dealcatcher.com) and buy one now if you can afford it. You'll be happy you did.

Whellllll -- maybe not so fast.
Word is (I forget where) M105s will be released any day now. I believe they're 8Mb for $199.
Also, M505s are due any day. (Word is they MAY BE 16MB!)
I'd wait AT LEAST a week, if you can, and maybe even up to a mo., if you can wait that long.
Of course, it's not *guaranteed* HS will drop prices, but if I were a betting man ...
Then, too O.S. 4.0 is due in at least the M505s (and I guess even the M105s) ... and I don't remember WHAT THE LAG was between Palm releasing O.S. 3.5 and HS adopting it ... but I think you can see the picture I'm trying to paint ...

m100, m105s, m505s..? From where they got these meaningless names? The numbers, might mean something for the developers but come on people..! This is a popular device not an engineering tool or equipment.

Deluxe, Prism, Platinum..? these names make more sense to me.

Arrow I agree

I agree. The names sound like some gadgets for the CIA. Can't they think of better names... are they that devoid of idea? Maybe they deserve to lose market share.

Lightbulb

Maybe they want it to sound like a CIA gadget. Maybe it adds to their "coolness" factor, like car makers and all those numbers.
