Red face

I have a VDX with USB and serial cradles. I have two problems:
1. One day I synched with the USB cradle on Win 98 and the very next day, it would not synch. Wondering if it was the USB port on that machine, I installed the Desktop software on my brand-new PC downstairs (running Win 98). It doesn't work there, either. So, I figure it's the cradle. I just can't figure how sitting by itself overnight could have affected anything. Anyone else had a USB cradle go bad?
2. My serial cradle (on WinNT) still works. However, I have to hold the VDX down on the cradle to get a decent connection. I think the slot on the back of the VDX is prbably worn down enough that it doesn't seat like it used to.
Do I just need to buy new cradles?

Try a soft reset* first. Sometimes when I can't synch USB, a soft reset fixes it.

* Insert a paper-clip or such in the "reset" hole on the back of your visor.

I think you hit on the problem.

I really doubt that the USB cradle would just up and fail like that. I've taken one apart and beside the Hotysync switch, there are NO electronic components in them! The USB cradle is simply a USB cable, a Hotsync connector, a switch, and a circuit board that simply provides the electrical connections between the three. All surrounded by a couple of pieces of plasic.
