Red face

I did a hot sync and had two completed To-Do items of 11-30-1999 and got this error message on my first hot sync since the rollover.
-- To Do List
- The Palm Desktop does not support To Do items before 1970. The following To Do item was moved to 1970:
OS, Due: 11/30/1970, Priority: 0
- The Palm Desktop does not support To Do items before 1970. The following To Do item was moved to 1970:
OS, Due: 11/30/1970, Priority: 0

I deleted these entries and it synced without a problem.

Anybody else see anything?

I think the problem is that it is looking for a four digit date code. Manybe Palm OS can not recognize a two digit code and assume the 19. They may be using using "windowing"to deal with the four digit code. I will say this, it is strange

I was getting a lot of that with my Palm, using TrueSync. I wasn't sure if it was a Todo or Calendar because it just called it an 'Event'. I had a problem in that I could never locate the offending items whether searching in the Palm Desktop, Palm III, or Yahoo!. I ended up exporting all of my address, calendar and todo events, resetting my Yahoo calendar and Palm, importing the data and resyncing.

Just an interesting note...

I have events in both '99 and 2000 and my first (and subsequent) syncs after Y2K rolled over haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Isolated incidents perhaps? Who knows.

Question

Alright here's the rest of the story.

I looked around some more and noticed that the Palm desktop address book entries were missing but the still existed on the Visor. The only address book entries on the Palm desktop was a few lines of garbled information. The same thing was occurring on the To-Do items list. The Palm Desktop Calendar was also blank with several entries existing on the Visor.

I decided to uninstall, delete the directories and reinstall Palm desktop.

I did so, but the only thing that will come accross to the Palm desktop is my Memos. All of my memos come across to Palm Desktop from the Visor just fine.

Is there any Idea of what might be happening here? I've tried a soft reset but I Don't want to do a Hard reset since I don't have a backup of my data. (What's on the Visor is it)

Any thing to try would be helpful.

Lightbulb

Get BackupBuddy. It backs up everything on your visor. Then you won't be in trouble if you are forced to do a hard reset.

BTW: I hotsync with Outlook 98 and haven't had any trouble with the date change.

mmdenton,

Does the username in your device match the username in the desktop exactly? I had a problem like this and 3Com had me delete the username in my device. They gave me a shortcut to delete the name, but I don't remember the shortcut.
