I just want to know what is the average time for memplug to create a new directory ? from my memplug using my prism it takes about 23 second until it finish sorting.

Pi developer, if you read this, Why memplug take a long time to make a directory? is it Hardware limitation or the software?

Thank's

Anything like creating a new directory, moving files, etc.. I do on my USB SmartMedia reader/writer attached to my pc. Much faster..

Less than 10 sec. on an 8 Meg. Lexar card

On an 8 meg. Lexar card is was less than 10 sec. for both a first and second directory off of the root. Earlier today I made a directory off of the root on my 64 Meg. (Dane-Elect card from www.newegg.com) on my MemPlug and it took a long time, probably closer to the longest time in the poll. Wonder if card size has anything to do with it.

Also have a CF card, 32 meg. SanDisk ( SanDisk seems to be the very best brand that consistently works), on a MatchBookDrive adapter and the creation of directories is very fast. Data transfers seem to be very noticeably faster on the CF but not quite twice as fast. Did not do exact measurements. In my Fuji camera a 300-400 Kb file only takes a very few seconds to write to the SmartMedia. I have an idea that MemPlug may very well be able to optimize their programs quite a bit. Even Kopsis was able to speed up their programs for the CF media a lot by making their code more efficient. Programming will be the competition point between the two media. MemPlug has the edge on the built in flash memory for the programs, but otherwise personal preference between SmartMedia and CF will be the only factor there, I feel.

Maybe the size does matter.
I use 64 mb San disk Smart media card.

Yeah when I try to make directory using Innopocket on my CF card, it is very fast.

So, Do the size matter, bigger the size slower it will be to make a directory?

Anybody can answer this?

Thank's

The time needed it in proportional to the memory size of your smartMedia card. It is because the FAT table needed to be updated after this operation.

We are investigate some methods to speed up this process.
We will provide flash update once it is available.
