I just had my replacement Edge received today, it's totally brand new because it doesn't have any black dots on the S/N. But do I have to register it?

registration
Registration will for one thing invite lots emails to the account that you give. (but i think u can disable that..not sure)
for another thing it will enable you to enter into contests and stuff and all the bull**** on the HS website.
and another major thing about registration is that when u get registered HS knows all your info so that when u call them .. all you give is your serial no at the back under that flip lid plug, and they dont waste time in asking you stuff and are ready to assist you with .. er whatever probs your edge is having..... remember HS tech supprt is not toll free.
registering does make it trackable easier. your warranty info is backed up.
so no big deal but aint a very bad idea.
Cheers

and i don't think that they record which Edge they send you, it's up to you to re-register.

Yes!
If you did register the first one.. this one has a different serial and of course will not be on the tech support's database. so u ll have to register it again. They wont just update your info with th new serial it themselves
the reason that the serial number does not have a dot on it is that MAYBE the edge is entirely new. remember edges are new(well not that new) and they dont have many in Kentucky (refurbished) to replace the new ones with so they send out new ones for new ones.
well dotn be too happy i am just guessing as this used to happen a lot. but chances are that you got a new one.
edges are having lots of issues so better test it out entirely before saving sensitive non backed up data onto it.
