Try this out.

go to
http://bryan-cristina.tripod.com/index.html and choose the handspring software link.

It'll be slow, but you can download it at least.

For those of you who would like a good laugh. I just called in to let the nice folks at handspring know that my CD was cracked and I was charged tax. Well being the good people they are they said I will get my replacement CD in 5 days. Hey thats fast in Handspring time. About 30 min later I get a call back from the same nice young lady informing me that I have to mail them back the CD. When I asked why handspring wanted a .12$ piece of broken plastic she just laughed and said I dont know. The return center is in Kentucky, Dont ask me. The kicker is I have to pay shipping. Oh well I like to play by the rules so I will be a good guy and return their CD. Just thought you guys would like to know what happens when something gets broken.

Peace
Bryan

PS for those of you wondering why I am not upset that I will have to weight 5 more days before using my Visor its simple. I have my personal Angel who will remain Anonymous.

PPS Great Idea putting it up on the web.

OK!

Finally got things straightened out and I think things are in working order.

the address now is
http://bryan-cristina.tripod.com/

and you'll see the link there at the bottom.

It weighs in at 8.8-9 megs, so have patience. Luckily tripod actually has a good server and here at work I was downloading in double digit K's/sec.

Hopefully now anyone who needs the software either through a cracked CD, No CDRom in their computer, or just want to check it out while they wait in agony can download it.

And I don't know the legal ramifications, but this is only for Visor "customers" or soon to be customers that haven't been charged yet Hopefully this will be the end of the downloading issue.

Just trying to help out. Glad to know some people are appreciating it (had a bunch of problems with emailing files and uploading stuff, but that's no matter now).

I didn't expect (or think of) people wanting to try it out while they waited. This being my first PDA I would have liked to have toyed a bit with it and set up everything already so it'd be good to go off the first HotSync.

Also one thing I may have mentioned or maybe not is I took out the acrobat reader and the user manual pdf file. A wasted 6 megs for people who didn't either need the viewer and or guide or wanted to get them at some other time.

Mac guy: Don't think I can help you unless you know of a program/emulator that lets you rip Mac files off a CDRom (I'm guessing that mac files do not show up if you're using a PC).

Turns out I goofed yet again (DOh.. damn learning process

I checked the include subdirectory option only.. that just took the files and didn't really keep the directories intact.

You'll have a bunch of menu files.. menu 1-8 dal and dah files. Those are supposed to be in their own DATA directory (Data is the name of it)

So if you extracted it to C:\Visor, it would be C:\Visor\Data\*.dal/dah files

Along with the Data directory there's supposed to be one called palmsfw.

In THAT directory (palmsfw) there's one called Disk1. SO put the disk1 files in their own directory UNDER palmsfw.

SOrry about my mistake. I'm in the process of fixing the download. Eventually I'll get this right (I do have a correct zip now). For now, you can just move the files around simply like that and it should fix your problem.

So, under Visor there should be Data and palmsfw. Under palmsfw there's disk1 and under disk1 is Pocket Mirror.

The new one will be up whenever Tripod gets their stuff together.

Talking

I want to talk about the problems I have had in downloading/extracting the BizEchilD Zip file. I was one of the first people to get in and order this zip file (9:14) and now I call him 5 times a day and I never get any answers. The CSR's at BizEchilD just tell me that I will get my zip file any minute now, but I just don't feel like I can wait. BizEchilD promised that he would get us this zip file, and then it comes in a condition like this! I'm thinking about filing papers with the FTC, and I'm pretty sure I have good grounds for a lawsuit here. I even had my credit card charged 5 times for a $0 purchase. I don't care if he is doing this as a favor, I just think this customer service is horrible, and potentially libelous.

Just kidding!

Sorry--but that has to be one of the funniest posts that I have read on here in a while...... I got my Visor yesterday and am quite happy :-).....

BTW--I don't have the capability, but could you just use one of those CD-Ripping softwares and make an image of the whole Cd. That might include the Mac image (any experts out there?)

Mike, I have checked the records personally and I do not see your name anywhere.

At 9:14 our online process was experiencing difficulties and I have a hard time believing that you ordered when you say you did.

My promise was that the zip file would be placed on the webpage "Sometime today" and so far I have not broken that promise. Furthermore, I can assure you that all files have been uploaded and are correct. I cannot however provide you with a log number of the download nor can I tell who the file was downloaded to.

I have increased my staff of zero -FIVE- fold, so you should immediately see no increase in service. We are working as dilligently as humanly possible to fix all of the problems on our end. We won't have no more problems ever again.

Hey BizEchilD you may be doing a greater service than you originally intended. Just thought I would mention that the CSR that I talked to said that the cracked CD is not as uncommon as you would think. On the day we talked I was the third person that called about a cracked CD. Keep up the good work.

Peace
Bryan

PS mike1in3 I agree with everything you said

This is a double negative, which says that you will have problems again! I am informing you that I am cancelling my order. I cannot believe the rudeness of you and your (5 x 0) CSR's.

I have decided to go to www.valuesoftwareamerica.com. I found a way to get this zip drive for $1.42, without this delay. I heard about someone who downloaded their zip file, it only had the "readme.txt" with a notice that said that the Visor files were backordered. And this person also ordered at 9:14!!!

Count me out. You are so money hungry and arrogant. If I get this from you, I'll either send it back or sell it on eBay. Phooey on you and your Visor zipfile, BizEchilD!!

MJH <><

P. S. Again, just kidding! Your tone on the last post was so harsh/serious it had me shaking in fear!

RSGCOW: Your order was placed in our old database and therefore we are unable to retrieve it at the moment. When we can accurately place together the shreddings (Cross cut, mind you, so it will take time) and find your credit card number, the billing will be taken care of.

Mike123: Currently all readme.txt files are backordered. If you do not have the proper software to view the readme.doc file you will have to either upgrade your system or wait until the .txt files are available again.

Sorry to be so belittling, but we intend to crush you in the Ebay arena. Our marketers have set aside a large amount of product for just that reason, citing "Better returns from uneducated morons...who will bid far in excess of the price we are charging to intelligent consumers." Good luck.

For everyone else, downloads are available at the site.

UnBizEchlid,

What a way to run a railroad! You need to credit my account and I think that you ought to double credit my account for having to put up with such sloppy service. This might take care of the pain and suffering not to mention the increased stress.

I, for one, am disgusted by the complete lack of service I've received from Biz and the improved staff. I have not received a single piece of information from him, even though I have absolutely no need for his services, since my CD arrived in a single piece.

I found Biz's non-communication to be an outrage. Why, If I needed his information, I'd be mighty put out.

Oh, and I assure you of this, I will be contacting Handspring on the fact that I feel slighted that I received only one piece of CD and not multiples. For this oversight, I demand Jeff's chair and Donna's right shoe. What I intend with said items is a personal matter.
