Question

I just received my Vaja Case from Direct Case for my VPR. Just a note on Direct Case, EXCELLENT service and FREE 2 day shipping!

I realize I have to break in the leather, but I am a bit unhappy with the clear protection over the buttons. It is sort of bubbled up and you really have to squeeze thru it to activate the buttons (which I do frequently as I use them to unlock my VPR with Teal Lock).

Also the area around the hotsync port sort of sticks out in the middle (the leather does). Appears to be on how the leather has to taper in on the case. Also the bottom corners are sort of prominent and hard and stick out a bit.

Does anyone else have similiar issues? Do they correct themselves with use? I read a few posts in usenet that indicated letting the case get broken in, but at $69 if it never does correct, I may wish to return and will be unable to do so.

The workmanship and style of the case is GREAT. All cut outs match perfectly.

Thanks

I also have the vaja prism and have the same problems. I
have had it now for about a month or two and the puckering
around the hot sync port has not gotten any better.
As for the clear plastic I cut mine out with and exacto
knife.

Question

I have the Prism and I just got the Vaja case. So far I haven't figured out a way to hot sync (using the cradle) when the Prism is in the case. Is this possible? If not, why do they make the hot sync port accessible?

Other than that issue, I am pleased with the case. The quality is excellent. Although, I am not crazy about the plastic over the buttons and have been contemplating the exacto knife approach.

Well, the magnetic closure case was originally intended to be hot-syncable. It was, in fact, advertised before the case came out. But when they realized that there were too many problems, they retracted the claim on their site and offered those who had preordered the case a discount (because they were expecting a hot-syncable case).

Also, some people HAVE successfully synced with the Vaja Prism case (again, the magnetic closure case, not the snap case), so it's really on a case-by-case basis.

Finally, there are still the non-cradle sync options such as cables and whatnot. I've got a Prism travel charger that I can use with the Vaja case on. Pretty nifty for charging on the road.

syncing with the Vaja prism case

A few things about getting your prism Vaja case to sync using the cradle:

The first thing I did was to place it in the cradle (closed), stuffed something between the cradle and the back of the visor to prop it up a bit, and held the prism in the cradle until I found the necessary pressure and angle to make the connection(see the green light come on). Then I rubber-banded the prism (in the case) to the cradle, making sure the connection remained. I did this overnight for the first few days that I had the case.

Remember that the prism needs to sit a bit more upright while in the case to make a connection, try fliping the lid back and using it to prop up the prism a bit when you try to sync (after the leather has broken in).

With mine, I found that the sides of the cradle were interfereing with the seams on the bottom of the case, so I shaved down some of the plastic on the sides of the cradle.

After all that, I can't just 'drop' my prism into the cradle and charge it, but if I put it in carefully, I can sync with no problems. I haven't needed to remove my prism from the case to sync it since I got the case (about a week ago).

Hope that helps.

I am all for the why leave the hot sync area exposed if it will not work. I am not planning on shaving the plastic of my cradle.

I also noticed a slight variation on the sides of the case as it covers the visor. The left side of the case seems to extended just a hair over the screen (I use Lefty so it makes accessing the left scroll bar a bit difficult) and on the right side I can see the ridges.

Does anyone else have this? I luv the case and the leather, but for $69 expect it to fit perfectly and not hamper my use.

They don't fit perfectly. I've had two - I returned my first one because it wasn't quite what I'd ordered (I had ordered the magnetic closure, got the snap by mistake). Neither fit perfectly, and neither were synchable.
