Question

I have been hearing some of you talk about the "Palm Vx" but have not been able to find anyting about it. What is it? I'm assuming a beefed up version of the Palm V? When is it ghoing to be released and how much will it cost?

I'm torn between the Visor Deluxe and the Palm V. On one hand, the Visor has the Springboard, cheaper price and so forth, but the Palm V just looks so sleek and nice and it's OS is upgradable!

What do I do?

I also just called Handspring and asked about the OS upgradability... and they said "because it is using the same OS it will be able to upgrade" and I asked if that meant it was flash rom upgradable and he didn't have any idea what that was... so I imagine he didn't know what he was talking about. But at least there is a 30-day money back gaurantee.

Oh, but yeah... back to the original question... what's a Palm Vx and where do I find info on it?

Just as an aside, my old Pilot 5000 was able to upgrade its OS. It just loaded when you HotSynced, no big deal. IIRC, the only thing FlashROM will do for you is ensure your data won't be lost if your unit suffers a catastrophic crash.

The only difference that I am aware of between the Palm V and the Vx is that the V comes with 2M of memory, and the Vx will ship with 8M. palm.com is silent on the subject, so the actual shipping product may have more enhancements than are rumored.
