OK. Cases. I'm clumsy, and I have a tendency to drop things... and I'm also forgetful, so I need something that I can attach to myself. I am ALSO paranoid, and I've heard of major problems (cracks) with cases that attach to the springboard cover, or however it is that the case that comes with the Visor attaches.
Anyway.
1st choice so far:

ShockSuit SportCase

PROS:

-I can't kill it
-Belt clip
-Hot Sync (w/cable)

CONS:

-expensive
-bulky
-visor doesn't fit right??

2nd choice:

EB Slipper

PROS:

-too much to mention

CONS:
-doesn't hot sync well
-NOT ENOUGH PROTECTION
-expensive

3rd choice

InCase Palmtop PDA Case

PROS:

-cheap
-my friend will sell me one, so quick delivery
-Neoprene.. SOME padding

CONS:

-NOT ENOUGH PADDING
-Attaches like the original visor cases (springboard)... Ahhhh!!! i DONT want it to crack

So. Anyone wanna help me out here? like, any reasons to NOT buy the sport case? or any reasons that the Slipper will protect better than it looks? cuz I want it REEALLLLLYY bad.. but like I said, I'm clumsy...

thanks
-matt

PaQ,

I have had two Visor's now, and both have had the cracking problem; however, I think Handspring has addressed the problem. I know several folks who have recently received their new Visors, and they are having no cracking troubles. If you have gotten yours in the last month or two (which seems likely or you would already have the cracks) you are probably OK.

That said, the retaining ridge on the top of my Visor is now completely borken off -- without any negative consequences. The Back-up springboard I have in the slot holds the hard cover on the back of the unit just fine. In fact, just before I wrote this reply I yanked and tugged on it trying to see if I could pull the hard cover off. I couldn't. I pulled from several different angles and with quite a bit of force. After my little "test" I wouldn't be hesitant to use a case that retained my Visor using the hard-cover retaining slots.

P.S. FWIW, I was the original poster of the cracking problem, and a big concern of mine was that this would not let my Visor be safely held by a case that used the slot. As I'm said, I'm no longer worried. Also, I have no doubt that HS would replace my cracked Visor if I were to make the request -- I simply don't see the need right now.
