A painting done entirely on a Palm:

I wouldn't call it great art, but it sells.

Angry

This popped up on Slashdot last week:

http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=...amp;mode=thread

I did some PalmOS doodling of my own for a graphics tutorial... and I have a sneaking suspicion that it just might have occurred to somebody else before me to draw pictures in a Palm paint program. Call me crazy. So what makes this art? The mind-numbing repetition, or the innocent 2-year old crayon scribble aesthetic?

Please, don't let's start with the "Sure, everyone comes out of the woodwork saying 'I could have done that' but he actually did it so therefore it's art" crap. I could have spent a couple of days scribbling on a Palm V to make Art with a capital "A", but it never occurred to me to do bring such a tired, pretentious concept to fruition. I guess I need to hang out in galleries more.

Usonian:

You have a point. It IS art, though. Art is entirely in the eye of the beholder.

I certainly wouldn't call it GOOD art, or even vaguely interesting art, either. I agree, it's a shallow, rather monotous piece. The only thing it has going for it is the gimmick factor, IMO.

Smile

I think pieces in this page by a Taiwanese calligrapher deserve to be called "art".
