Sorry that some of these questions may seem trivial to the advanced user. I just got my BVD and already have become bored because I can't load programs.
Question 1: I have to use the serial cradle since I have no usb port. Where do I plug the thing in? Into the place where my printer is, and use an A/B switch? there I would have to get a transitional plug that is a female 9 pin to 2 female?

Or do I plug it into my one remaining com port? This is where I become completely lost and the documentation is no help at all.
I have it plugged into my last com port and changed a few things in my bios with the help of a friend on the phone. But it still doesnt work.

I really need some help explained in easy to understand terms. I have read all the boards and cant seem to figure it out.

Any help would be greatly apprecitated.
I would like to use my BVD to its full potential.

This is a hard question to answer via this site...but, I'll give it a try.

Usually, a PC has 2 comm/serial ports (9 and/or 25 pin male) and 1 printer port (25 female).

1) I'm guessing that you are running win95/98. Go into control panel/system and make sure you that windows can see your comm ports.

2) If you have a modem, check control panel/modem and see what port it is using. If it's using comm 1 or 2, you must make sure you plug your visor cradle into the other comm port.

3) make sure via BIOS, that your comm ports are enabled. (hit the DEL key during bootup
to change your BIOS settings). Note that if your modem is using comm 1/2, that you DO NOT
enable that port via BIOS, or your modem won't work. (Note: you can move your modem from comm 1/2, see your modem instructions)

4) I'm guessing that your printer is not using a comm port, but the printer port instead. Does you mouse use a comm port? Or does is plug into a PS/2 port (a circular plug)? If your mouse is a PS/2 type, you most likey have 2 free comm port plugs on you PC. They may both be 9 pin, or you may have a 9 pin and a 25 pin type. Note that comm ports are male.

At this point, hopefully you have your visor pluged into an open comm port. Note that comm port, so that you can configure the hotsync manager.

Configure the hotsync manager, then try a hot sync.
