Question

I have a IVD and have been considering an upgrade to the Edge. This would be my first rechargable because all my Palm OS units to date have been battery based. Switching would require a small change in behavior as when I am not using my IVD it stays in my briefcase.

I am concerned about recent stories I have heard from friends about PDAs stolen from the cradle. I guess its a crime of opportunity - the unit is out on a desk, very visible and very portable and less chance of being caught rummaging through a bag etc. Has anyone figured out a way to recharge securely ?

On a broader note, how long do you have to charge a unit? How long does the charge last when out of the cradle with moderate use (i use my unit about 45 minutes a day)?

Lightbulb

You could always get a battery recharger (see the reviews section) and charge the Visor while it's in your briefcase.

You shouldn't have to change anything with regard to your current pda habits. The edge recharges very quickly, and a charge lasts a long time. Put your cradle at your desk and charge it when you're there. You don't have to wait for a full charge before you can take it off the cradle, so when you have to go you can take your visor with you.

The above is very true for you, considering your moderate usage. I use mine around 4 hours a day.

See this thread for a way to lock your PDA to your desk - I don't know if it works with Edge, though.

I doubt it works with the edge since the sylus slot is vastly different.

Get a second cradle, and charge your Edge while it is at home in the evening. I have two cradles, one for work and one at home. Even without the ability to recharge my Platinum in the cradle, being able to hotsync both places is easily worth it.
