Prism color display

I've just installed Depth DA and it seems my Prism is actually set at 8 bits (256 colors) unless I adjust it to 16 bits (64k colors). Megalauncher indicates as much. This launcher will give an 8-bit display if you don't deliberately configure it to show 16 bits.

It may just be illusory, but setting the unit at 16 bits appears to lessen the infamous pixelation problem.

Any ideas from those concerned with color display?

Depth DA version 2.0 is a desk accessory (DA) which allows you to set your Prism at 16 bits, 8 bits or even grayscale. The author is Hoshi Takanori but you'll need to search for the download file as it is not available, as far as I know, from Palmgear or Freewarepalm.

Further to the phenomenon I described, I can tell that my Prism is showing 16 bits because color setttings made by means of an app like Butterfly are lost. The same color settings come back again when I revert to 8 bits.

Another interesting point: a soft reset brings my Prism back to 8 bits, so I need to configure Depth DA again if I want a 16-bit screen display.

Lightbulb Depth...

Hey,

Not all applications can take advantage of 16 bit screens. The applications that do utilize the 16 bit pallette. ie. eyemodule 2, silverscreen, zap 2016 etc. Do you see a difference in 16 bit color mode besides the pixelizing?? I don't have any problems with my prism. Also aaron ardiri www.ardiri.com has an app called toggle on his site, this app changes the color depth. More information is available at http://www.ardiri.com/index.php?red...0ea8479eddb603d . :-)

I believe that's precisely why there are programs like Depth DA to set the color display. ThinkDB, though, continues to work at 8 bits even if you configure your Prism to show 16 bits.

I just tried Toggle. I think Depth DA, being a desk accessory, is more convenient and it actually shows the colors at 8 and 16 bits and the various grayscales.
