Whew! After all that discussion about the Pocket PC and how it's supposed to spell the end of OS-based handhelds, I feel kinda reluctant posting this mundane problem
I have with my VDx.
But what the heck! I need some answers and you guys just might know the answer. Here it goes...for a second or two after I tap on the screen or press any button, the display of My Visor Deluxe fades into a faint greenish color along with the icons and whatever else is on display. Worse, I've even seen it flicker once! What could be causing this increasingly annoying condition?
Could streakhack lick it? If so, anybody kind enough to tell me where to get it?
Thanks.

I am sorry to tell you this, but it sounds like you have a serious hardware problem with your Visor.

You should try to get in touch with Handspring's Technical Support. You probably have a defective Visor.

I realize that you will have problems doing this from Manila.

I'm guessing here, but it's also possible that the ribbon connector to the display is loose.

I'm not recommending possibly voiding your warranty, but if you don't want to deal with returning the unit overseas you could try opening the case with the batteries out (BACKUP EVERYTHING FIRST) and reseating the ribbon cable connection.

There should be links in one of these forums to pictures of the inside of the Visor as a guide.

Let us know what you do.

Guys, it turned out the weird effect was being caused by the backlighting turning on whenever the stylus came into contact with the screen. I figured that it was most probably a software problem since it occured after I installed some apps needing hacks.
A soft reset licked the problem, thank God.
Thanks a lot for your replies, though.

Wow, that problem should go into the FAQ.
Do you remember what the offending program was?

Winchell,

Since I am type who forgets what he had for breakfast by noon, I really could not recall what was it that caused my VDx's display problem. I think, though, that installing a beta version of some arcade game had something to do with it.
Serves me right for being an inveterate free loader. he he .

Winchell,
Since I am the type who forgets what he had for breakfast at noon, I wouldn't really be able to recall exactly which app caused the problem. I think, though, that installing a beta version of some arcade game was the culprit.
