Question

I am wondering if anyone has seen a date when the Prism and Platinum might be available in stores? I could not find anyhting on Handspring's site. I am thinking about a Prism, but have my reservations about buying it blind since the IIIc had a rather crappy screen. I would prefer to see it first before buying.

So, has anyone heard of a date?

Handspring's press release said November for retail availability but was non-committal about an exact date.

As for the Prism's screen, it is considerably better than the IIIc, IMHO. However the "pixelation" (gaps between the individual pixels) is still quite noticeable, so that may be a problem for you. Using "chrome" to invert the colors helps a lot for me, but YMMV.

Not sure about the Prism, but the Platinum is available NOW at Fry's Electronics.

When did you get your Visor Platinum and where was the Fry's (city and state)that you bought your Visor Platinum from? I called the closest Fry's (Anaheim, CA)and they said that they don't have it yet (but it could just be another ignorant sales person). All the other Fry's in California are actually kind of far away. I want to check out the screen before I buy it. Is it any sharper or clearer than the Deluxe?(which is what I have right now). Does it pretty much look like the Palm Vx's screen in clarity and crispness?
It would really be great to know before I spend the money to replace my Deluxe.

Thanks,
eastline

The Burbank Fry's isn't too far away from Anaheim... pretty much a straight shot up the 5, and it would probably only take about 30-40 minutes in weekend traffic (That's 2 hours weekday time ). If you can bear to slum it into the Valley, that is. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow!
