Ok Two new visor and one new Module. If you could get only one, which will it be?

a) Visor Prism: $450 for a Color Visor on a 30MHz dragon Ball chip with palm 3.5 and re-chargable batteries.

b) Visor Platinum: $300 for a 30MHz Dragon Ball chip with palm 3.5.

c) VisorPhone: $300 Cell phone using GMS with seperate recharchable battery.

Hmmm.

I'm all giddy about the color Visor, but I'm not sure I need color at a $450 price tag.

The platinum: is it too early to be thinking about a new visor (even if it does come with a metal case)? My current one in only a couple of months old, even though I have had one since last Dec. Do I really need Avantgo to load faster?

The VisorPhone: If I can use it it with my current Visor (even if I have to send it in to get it shielded) and I can check all my email accounts with Multi-Mail and update avantgo . . . if I can do all this, this is the one for me. So, this will bve the one I buy. If it can't then who knows:-)

My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

The cell mod will be my first priority. Communication is more important to me than color, but I'll get both eventually. I'm just hoping the VisorPhone supports voice and data.

I'm inclined to agree with you. The new devices are merely cool, while the phone module is useful.

If the phone module won't work with my present Visor, and if I couldn't get shielding for it, then I'd need to buy a new one -- in which case color for only $50 more mioght be very tempting.

At any rate, getting either is a lower priority than a new laptop, so I'll try not to drool too much over it.

The ONLY thing that would get me to buy any of these 3 would be a metal case on the 'Platinum' model. I've been talking with a friend of mine who works in a machine shop and he's looking at the files on the Handspring site (developers section) which contain CAD files, etc. to see if any of the files are compatible with his equipment. i'm not holding my breath but if things work out i may get a machined aluminum case for my visor made up! BUT if the Platinum comes out in a metal body then i'd rather just buy it.

It could also be Magnesium injection molded...check out http://www.thixomat.com

Magnesium has better EMI shielding, stiffer than aluminum and a improves heat transfer.

(sorry for unloading my boring metallurgical info on you )
