Question Can't detect modem (Nokia 7160)

I have my visor deluxe connected to a Nokia 7160 with a serial hot-sync cable-RadioShack gender changer (double male)- and the DLR-3P cable provided with the phone. When I try to connect with Eudora web, I keep getting "modem not detected" and what's a "null-modem" connector and is that the problem?

A null-modem essentially swaps serial lines 2 and 3 (RX and TX).

If you're using a serial hotsync cable, chances are that it requires the serial device to provide its power... the Visor uses TTL-level voltages and most serial cables implement a conversion circuit to change TTL to RS232.

Try searching for "nokia" and/or "7160" to see if any others have had luck with that particular phone.
