Question Using My Visor With Two Computers

I am using a Visor Deluxe with one user name. I would like to use it with my desktop at work and my laptop at home. Can I use the handheld with both computers; including Desktop 4.0.1? I also would use a serial port at work and a usb port at home. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There's really no 'help' needed. Just do it. It works fine.

Not a problem. Just do it. I sync mine at home and at work, one with a USB and one with a Serial port. The only thing that you have to watch out for is the email. As far as I know, you can only have one mail account on the visor. When you sync, the email that is on the computer will overwrite whatever is on the Visor unless you tell it to do otherwise.

Question Hotsync on two computers

Hello,

I'm puzzled with the same questions:
I would like to hotsync with my VdX on the PC at home and at work. I bought a second USB hotsync cradle for that.
The PC at work is installed with Outlook 2000 just as it is at home.
My questions are:
1. Do I have to choose another hotsync ID when installing PocketMirror at my work PC?
2. Normally after installation a hotsync is necessary. Do I have to skip this, since I don't want to overwrite my original VxD settings?
3. How can I adjust the hotsync settings, so the the files on my work PC don't overwrite the files at home? Eg. I don't want my personal Outlooks contacts being overwritten with the work Contacts..
If anybody has more hints, tips and advices I'm grateful.
Thanks in advance

Check out this FAQ from Chapura.

As for keeping work and home contacts, etc, seperate, you will probably need PocketMirror Pro which allows synic with folders instead of just categories.

But...what about moving from one computer to another one.

Sounds great. But I have a twist I need some help with. I have been hotsyncing my Visor Deluxe on a Win 98 machine using USB cradle with Outlook (mail, contacts, tasks, notes) and a number of third party Palm software (PocketJournal, WordSmith, SplashID, etc.) that use conduits. Now I have to give up that PC and am going back to a Win95 machine (don't ask). The Win95 machine has no USB, obviously, and has never been set up at all to work with the Visor. :uckily, I have a serial cradle. I have copied the Palm directory from the Win98 machine to the Win95 machine, as well as all the other directories from the third party software I have.

Now what, so that I can continue without a hitch. I have read everythng on the HS support pages, but I am still lost, as usual.

Oh, one other little twist. Outlook on the Win95 machine has two .PST files -- one I copied from the Win98 machine, and one that was already in use by default on the Win95 machine.

From what I have read, seems I should
1. install HS's Palm Desktop 4.01,
2. hotsync
3. install PocketMirror Professional
4. hotsync.

What's next? And, what about all the other stuff? Do I need to "reinstall" all the other stuff on the Win95 machine? Totally confused here.
