Question Address Book View on Visor - How to see (Home) Numbers??

Okay, I'm not really quite sure how to explain this. But here goes. On my visor edge, when I launch the Address application, I see all my contacts on the left side. On the right side I see the phone numbers corrilated with the contacts.

When those contacts have a (m) for Mobile phone or a (w) for Work, the number shows. HOWEVER, when those contacts have a (h) for Home, the number does not show and the field is left blank. When you select and click the contact w/ just a (h) number, you can see it in the detailed view.

My question is , how do I get the contacts with just a (h) number to appear when I'm looking at the rest of my contacts?

Thanks in advance.

Click on the person's name, click edit, click details, and choose home from the show in list drop down menu.

Thanks, got that to work. Problem is, how come that's not the default? How do I apply it to the rest of my contacts w/o doing it over and over again?

Don't know, I've played with it for a few minutes and can't figure it out, maybe someone else knows...

Are you using Yahoo Intellisync? Maybe that could be the issue?

Also, by default, the home view was showing (m) for Mobile numbers and (w) for work numbers...just wasn't showing (h) for home or (o) for other (if applicable)

Wierd...

No, Using Palm Desktop, I can get them to change to home, but a lot of mine I don't have home numbers for these people, just work and cell.

Yea, exactly. Shouldn't it be, if there is no work or cell number, the home phone should be filled in? There should be some option or preference that this is applicable. Seems odd that the Palm developers never thought of this issue......

I thought this is what it did, let me do some experimenting.

Edit:
Yep, just made two new test entries. One had only home number, which showed in list. One had only work number, which showed in list. both with appropriate h or w labels.

My understanding of how the main address listing view work is:

When you enters a new address book entry on you PalmOS device, the first number you enter will be set as the default number. This will be the number that will be displayed in the default list view. One can change which of the five number slots is the default, of an address entry, by pressing the "Details..." button.

When one enters a new address book entry on the Palm Desktop, the slot marked with the radio buttons is the default number. If that slot is empty, the first slot that has an entry will be set as the default.

I cannot answer what other desktop PIMs/conduits do when one enters a new address book entry under them. Possibly your problem was related to what your PIM/conduit does.

More then likely it's an issue with my Intellisync / Yahoo / Palmdesktop setup. I will run some tests, but so far all signs point to intellisync.

I'll update later today.

Alternate Address Book

Greetings..

After fighting with, albeit free(?) and relatively useful, AddressBook included with the PalmOS, I gave a couple other Contact managers a try.. So far, I've found TealPhone to be indispensible. The views are far more informative, navigating names, etc is much slicker.. I just wish they had a patch for name lookups from other apps.. You can download trial versions of their software from Palm Gear HQ orTealPoint's website.

I am still determined to figure out how to do it with Datebook+, a program that's supposed to be more enhanced the Palm's regular datebook program, and it should get the job done...

...plus, I dont' wanna pay for an additional software program for a calendar, thanks for the suggestion however.
