The actual clock rate on a "200MHz" or "400MHz" bus is still just 100MHz. But instead of doing one transfer per clock cycle they do two (double data rate memory) or four (rambus), so for most intents it seems like it really is 200 or 400MHz.
Yada yada. But yeah Apple seems to max out with 133MHz buses and PC133 RAM in the PowerMacs AFAIK, no double data rate or Rambus in sight... That's one reason people find it hard to believe that a Mac can really outrun a PC, even at the same CPU speeds.
Apple used to be big in education. I guses now they're taking advantage of Dell's problems and stepping into the fray once again. Get the kids hooked on Macs so they'll grow up and buy more Macs.
Did Palm/HS ever consider selling to middle/high schools? Hmm.
To be fair the Sony's hinge extends the entire length of the notebook and doesn't look as nice (the whole computer doesn't look as nice). There are only so many ways a laptop screen can be attached, obviously Apple felt this style suited the iBook the best.

If you say so. I think it's a very nice design, at least for a PC. Although I'm not very fond of SONY's use of subdued purple plastic. Still, it is nice, but the iBook looks sleeker. Nothing on the PC side can compare, sad really.

I think the iBooks are optical illusions... the new one SEEMS sleek, but it's probably no smaller than some of the Sony's. On the other hand the old iBook just looked HUGE, even though it really wasn't.

Yes, for a PC notebook it is nice, but I don't like the way the plastic pieces fit together and I agree with you on the color, yuck!
