hello everybody,

i just bought my visor solo and i am ideally trying to hotsync my outlook97 contacts via my laptop's infrared port (win98). i know about utilities like irsync and irlink, however, i need to get them on my visor first... :-(

unfortunately, i don't know anybody in my city who owns another handheld with infrared port, hence, i can't beam the application via another person's palm.

is there a way to beam an application from my laptop's infrared port directly to the visor??

thanks a lot
alexander

You shouldn't have purchased the Solo unless you already had a cradle or cable available. The problem you have now will happen every time you have to do a hard reset (probably not that often, but it will happen eventually). It would be worth the effort and money to go and buy a USB cable or USB or serial cradle.

Buy the USB cable at a minimum. It's MUCH faster, which you will appreciate while installing large programs or making a large update. Once you start using more software, HotSync can take 5 minutes or more (Websites, Money, Spreadsheets, Word Docs, etc). IR HotSync takes about 3-5X longer in my experience. Fine for 'oh yeah, I changed Jim's Email address, I need to sync' not so good for, "Oooh, Wordsmith has v1.1 out, and I found 2 games I want to try" or 'I just balanced my checkbook'.
