Question

How do I know if my laptop has a USB port? What does it look like?

Cool

I dunno what the port looks like, but you should be able to tell by calling up the System control panel and checking the devices.

Keep in mind that the Visor hotsych does not work with Windows 95, you must have Win98.

It is a flat rectangular shaped connector that probably be located on the side of the laptop rather than on the back, although no guarantee.

It's about 1/2 wide and 1/4 tall and looks like it's only one "sliding" type connector. It does not have pins but will look like it connects to a "board" or flat type connection and this flat connection will not be in the middle of the rectangle but will be slightly offset to one side.

In short it is a unique looking connection relative to the parallel, serial interfaces that many are use to. If you have a toshiba laptop that has an external drive connector be careful not to confuse the USB with this type of connector...the external drive connector is usually on the opposite side from the USB on Toshiba and it's nearly 3 times as wide as the USB connector.

As noted in the above post...if your not running Win 98 be careful. Handspring does not appear to support early versions of USB drivers on some Win 95 machines. Check in your properties area of my Computer to see if USB is supported.
