I saw a release announcement from Handspring in the Wall Street Journal. It said they will release a PDA that "functions as a mobile phone," in conjunction with Tokyo Telecommunication Network.


The article continues to say the VisorPhone
(?) will be released in October for the Japanese market through TTNet's distribution. The phone is set to run under the PHS system(=Personal Handyphone System; I wish there was some Int'l business organization that could ban Japanese companies from naming any of their products in English: Clie, Vaio, GameBoy Advance...argg).
