Browsers, email, ftp, telnet apps, etc

I just got a Kyocera 2035a (using Visor Deluxe) and the cable from thesupplynet.com (excellent service and delivery by the way). Had it up and synced to the net via Verizon in about 30 seonds. Verizon is nice in that it doesn't charge you additional fees if you're not using their QNC, but simply takes away from your regular minutes. Not a bad choice for an isp in my opinion in case you're looking. I got a plan for 300 anytime minutes, 2000 weekend minutes, no activation fee, 29 bucks for the phone, 1000 mobile minutes, free east coast long distance for 35 bucks and nationwide long distance for another 5 bucks a month. Pretty decent.

Anyway, on to the point of my post. I've downloaded Eudoras 2.41 suite (free) that includes an email reader/sender and a web browser. Not half bad, but the browser strips out graphics. I'd like to get comments from others about what other types of net utilities they have used and perhaps prefer over Eudoras email prog and browser. Specifically, also any utils that enhance speed performance, ftp progs, telnet apps or newsgroup readers that work well on the palm. Thanks for your comments.

Regards,

I use BrowseIt (formerly ProxyWeb) and it's pretty good. I like that if you tap-hold a graphic, it gives you a choice of following the link (if any) or viewing the graphic full-size.

However, it often seems like the proxy server is overloaded. Anyone else experience this?

I agree with the over load issue. I just switched from Blazer and Browse-it and it seems that Blazer (Handspring) is much faster, and I think it's due to the proxy.

back to the thread....
Browse-it (web browser) does have another cool feature. You can download zip files from Palmgear (or any site) and Browse-it will unzip the file and allow you to install the palm apps or doc files. VERY COOL...

Blazer (another web browser) is very good also and seems faster but doesn't have the download/install feature.

For telnet check out a program called Online by Mark/Space. It's a VT100 emulator.

So are you saying you have a visor deluxe connected thru your cell phone using QNC or not using QNC?

if your using QNC I'm really interested into how you did it.

from everything I read QNC only works for palmos 3.5+

No, I'm not using QNC - just a standard connnection via verizon, the visor deluxe, the cable suppplied by thesupplynet.com, my isp and currently Eudrora for mail, browsing, although investigating other apps that might have better features.

Where can you get BrowseIt? I keep hearing about it but there is nowhere to download it. I just got a VP and am trying every app possible to find the right mix. BTW, what does Online give you that the other telnets don't?

Thanks in advance!
