When I first heard the colors on the visor were not as bright as the pictures shown I thought I was going to be unhappy with my BVD (Blue for newbies). But once I got it I could not have been more pleased. Has anyone else seen these new cases for the IIIx? What do you folks think of them? Would you have rather had some colors along those lines? I think they would make my BVD look really cheap and plastic-y. If my BVD looked like that it would have gone straight back.

I bought my VDx in green and I'm happy with it, but the more stuff I see in translucent colored plastic, the more I'm getting a little sick of this iMac mania.

Sorry, I haven't seen the Palm III cases in person.

I have a BVD and am happy with the color (even though everyone calls it a toy) I also have a Symbol SPT1500 that was sent to me w/ a clear case. That was kinda neat. I wish the Visor had that. It's kinda techie looking

My take on the color deal is this. For years PC users have been stuck with the same off white colors for desktops and black for laptops. The first PalmPilots were cool, but came in the same slate color. Early on there were promises of companies making replacement cases, but none ever surfaced. I personally take the "P" in PDA seriously. It is truly a personal device and I like it that I can have it in a color that pleases me. I was apprehensive at first, but I am very happy with my Blue Visor Deluxe. Not only does it look trendy, but it is a well made device. Jeff and Donna should be applauded for bringing to the market what PDA users want Personalization!!

Personalization? Not with only 5 colors available. Go look at the "orders received" thread on the Shipping forum and cound the number of Graphite, Blue, and Ice Visors that have been ordered. Not nearly as many Greens or Oranges, but still....

If personalization was really the goal, HS should have made the backs in color, too, (instead of just Ice & Graphite) and let people mix & match them.

Or you could just go the the hardware store & get a roll of tape and a can of Krylon.

I like having the back clear... It dosent look all the same and get boaring i wouldnt like just a monotone i like the 2 tone

You could probably spray the outside with a latex based paint. It'd give it a rubbary feel and probably look sweet.

Ted M: Actually, I've been giving some thought to painting the inside of the back of my green Visor. If I decide to try it, I'll probably go with a dark green to give it a "two-tone" look. Or maybe a medium to dark brown for that woodsy feel. Nice thing about painting the inside is that you don't have to worry about scratches.

Or how about using that "Flexstone" stuff. Yeah, a granite Visor. Heavy!

I haven't tried it yet, but I will probably paint the inside. I think the best paint is the same kind that is used on the clear RC Car bodies.

I've been thinking of painting the inside of my BVD as well, but I'm kinda too scared to try to open it up. I wouldn't have been afraid except that this last weekend, an old calculator of mine was starting to act up, so I took it apart, thinking "My Visor will do everything that this can do and more, so big deal if I really break it for good." Well, once I got it open, I was thoroughly baffled. There were no cables or wires of any kind attached to the LCD screen. I hadn't the foggiest clue what the mechanism was for transmitting electricity to the LCD. So, I put it back together exactly the way it had been. After that, it didn't work at all. Does anyone have any clear instructions on how to remove the case and put it back together? (oh - and keep in mind that opening the case voids the warranty)

I've been thinking about making alternate shells for the Visor (tortoiseshell, glow-in-the-dark, etc.), but wasn't sure other people would be willing to crack their Visor like I did. I'm sure that the six week wait for another unit (and the bucks) would keep some people from changing their units. What do you guys think?

BobbyMike: Go for it. By the time you get your product ready, HS should have solved their shipping problems (crossing fingers). I think lots of people are adventurous enough to do swap shells, especially if you posted instructions on a web site so that folks could see how easy it is to do.
