Currently, most Visors are manufactured with built-in SB slots. And there are adapters to accomodate CF cards.

What if Handspring made Visors with built-in CF slots instead of SB slots? And the Visors came with an adapter to accomodate the SBs?

While the Springboard and CF interfaces share the same physical connector, the electricals are vastly different. Since we haven't yet seen a true Springboard-to-CF adapter, we'll probably never see a CF-to-Springboard one. If Handspring were to abandon the Springboard altogether and go with a CF slot, there's still the issues of software drivers before we'd be able to use any of the available CF peripherals.

This would seem to be counter productive. One could never fit a springboard within a CF slot, although one could do the opposite. I think that the extra power draw is probably why we've not seen true CF+ springboards. It would probably require an extra battery pack.

Dear sweet nambja,

Well if Handspring did that the all the psycho Visor people here would go mentaly crazy trying to figure out what to do with all thier springboard modules, which i assume they bought when the modules first came out and were overpriced.
Now would you really want people to go koo-koo?

Or maybe they're just keeping quiet until they have a real product to sell? I would be surprised if Vaporgear didn't serve as an object lesson to SB designers on what _not_ to do.
