Nothing as far as quality, really. A digital signal is a digital signal.
Digital 8 Is a sony thing, though they do license it to other companies. I think there may be a difference in recording time, but I'm not sure.
Unless you are really after a super-small camera, then I wouldn't put the tape format at the top of the priority list.

In the NTSC format, yes, but note that this is an interlaced signal. In otherwords, it scans 280 horizontal odd lines, and then 280 horizontal even lines. So that sort-of equals 560 total lines of resolution. Sort of.
Actually, an interlaced signal is REALLY an outdated method in todays digital world.
From what I understand, HDTV does NOT interlace, but I could be wrong.
