Question

I built a black box (connects two 9 pin female serial plugs and adds some current to pin 8 on the Visor serial cradle cable) and an ePlug cable for my Garmin eTrex GPS unit last weekend.

( BTW ... Quo Vadis (QV) is REALLY cool with a GPS unit )

Everything works fine for a few minutes (QV is talking to the GPS), then the communication stops.

Sometimes they will communicate fine for 5 minutes, other times it will only be a minute or so and I get the QV message "waiting on GPS communication...". It's easy to restart, I just stop the communication and restart it with the buttons on the QV "GPS" menu...but it does get old after a while...

Do I have either the Visor/QV/eTrex set up incorrectly? Is my cable bad? Does anyone else using an eTrex with QV on a Visor have this problem?

Any ideas???

Thanks
Frank
Thanks

i also have the etrex/qv combo but my setup works well. i've never had the problem that you're talking about. perhaps you have "battery save" option on in the systems menu under setup. not sure if this is doing what you're describing, but set it to "normal" and see if that does it.

fyi: i am using WaC's homemade hotsync/serial cable in my setup.
