Question

I ordered & received the SoudsGood module from PalmGear at $150, and I'm generally pretty happy with it. But the "Flash Memory Info window (Menu/Commands/Memory Info...) shows "Bad blocks 1" and also shows 2.0 MB of Free memory with 63.0 MB Used memory (65.5 MB Total memory; no, it doesn't add up), while the desktop program shows 64/64 used. What gives? Is there a problem with the flash memory?

I have tried erasing all and moving the files again, and also tried reformatting the module memory. No change. This is actually the second module. When the first one showed the same info, I sent it back to PG & had them send me a replacement. But the replacement is exactly the same, so I thought I should check with other users to see if it's just an "undocumented feature."

Also, anyone know how to get in touch with Good Technology to ask about this? Their web site now says to contact PG for tech support, but the guys there don't seem knowledgeable about this particular issue.

Thanks!

Thumbs up

When I got my sounds good last year, I called them about having 1 bad block too. According to them it's nothing to worry about. Like hard drives, even brand new ones, sometimes they have to map a block out of use for one reason or another. Since the chip has a little extra capacity, they still meet the 64 meg requirement. That's what I was told.

It's been over 4 months now and it's functioned flawlessly. So I'm very pleased.

Their should be some info on how to contact them at http://www.good.com/framea763.html

I wouldn't worry too much about the 64 meg thing between the desktop and the module adding up, those numbers appear to be rounded approximations, not exact byte counts.
