Hey Guys
I finally opened my Stowaway today. It's very neat, and I look forward to using it at school for those long note taking sessions. I couldn't get it to work for about 10 minutes after I plugged it in. I tried multiple things, and after a while I got it to work. It works fine now. I really like it but I have just two gripes. When I'm in SmartDoc (it's this way in other apps too I think), when I press Tab, it doesn't tab over, I have to use the Function+Tab. Is there a hack to fix this? Do you think the next version of the driver will fix this? Also, when I depress a key, and it starts repeating, it only does it so far. I have a habit of going back and erasing two lines or more, but it just stops after about 9/10 of a line. Does everybody else's do this too? But the design is very impressive. I was dissapointed to see it wouldn't fit in my Otterbox2K though--too wide. But overall--glad I bought it. I'm sure I'll feel it's more useful when schools starts in a few weeks. Thanks for coaxing me into getting it guys!

PS What software do you guys use? I tried QED but the nag popup was too much--so I'm trying SmartDoc right now.

The best editor for the visor and the Stowaway keyboard is PeditPro. I tried and I just can't live without it. The powerful feature is that you could use almost all editor shortcuts with your keyboard. No nead to use the stylus at all.

I recommend peditPro to friends

I've tried several, including Peditxx, and found that for the cost and footprint (memory size) that qed was the best for my purposes. Yes it had a nag but that goes away after you register. PEditpro broke up my doc into multiple pieces that I didn't care for while qed uses one file. QED may not have all the features/functions of some of the others but it works great for me as all I needed was to take notes - then I can polish them on the desktop using word.

From the Stowaway ReadMe file:

quote:
5.3 Characters stop repeating after 16 characters

The Stowaway software limits the maximum character repeat to 16 characters.
The limit was set to prevent the characters from repeating when the Visor is removed from the keyboard while a character is held down.

This is a "feature', not a "bug"...

Doh! I wonder if they'd be so kind as to give you the option to disable or enable that feature in the next driver release?

PeditPro is the unification of Pedit and Pedit32. Pedit will brake your documents into pieces of 3k (or so). While Pedit32 could be as long as you wanted to be or Memory available in your PDA. There is a switch on the upper left side of the screen which let you change from one mode to the other.

Also don't forget about the keyboard shortcuts and the ability to save/inport/export in two formats:
1.Regular memo format
2.Doc format

I think PeditPro is just GREAT..
