8MB Module Limitation?

I'm trying to move a 344K file from the handheld to the module, I have 187KB free on the VDX and 495KB free on the module, why, after it compacts, does it not allow me to transfer the file? (It says there is not enough memory)

You said that when you tried to move the 344k file from the handheld to the module, it compacts and then fails to transfer, saying that there is not enough memory. Question: If you then try to transfer the program again, does it try to compact again? If so, the problem might not be that there is not enough room on the module for the file, but that there is not enough free memory to perform the compaction. If so, try to free up some space on your Visor, then try to transfer the file. After which you should be able to restore those things you removed to free up space.

yes, it tries to compact again, then fails to transfer, I think I'm just gonna have to delete some stuff, transfer, then try again to move the file to the module, or get OS3.5 and use my memplug, which is almost useless on the VDX (mine's full)

Hi,
Have you tried using Launcher III and the VFS manager that can downloaded from the memplug website? I have had success using my Memplug and VDx on several programs and opened up quite a bit of memory on the handheld with only mild performance slowdown. The memplug is not all I had hoped but it is getting better. I am now holding off on an upgrade-hoping for a high-res Prism!

Hi,
Go to the memplug website. There is documentation to use Launcher III to load single file programs to RAM from the memplug as needed. Also the beta VFS manager lets you run some newer programs from the memplug, even on a VDx. At the website is also a link to the forum that has alot of information and some compatibility lists.
