I logged onto the OmniSky website today, just to see if anything was new, and low and behold, a "Buy Now" link was there, I quickly proceeded to order with overnite shipping. Hopefully I'll have it in the next day or so. When I get it, I'll let you know when i get it and what i think.

Finally - Wireless web, only a year later.

Unhappy Me too but...

Hi Mike,

I ordered last night as well, (while running to the door passing out treats). Unfortunately, I don't think they are shipping yet. I also picked overnight. I have a support request out to find out more. Will post results here.

I just gave omnisky a call and they said they would start shipping them on the 6th. (Monday of next week) - Hopefully I'll have it for election day. Ha.

I have to wait until I get my $150 rebate for my 6-months with the PalmV service so I can cancel and re-sign up with the Minstrel S. I have to cancel first in order to keep my existing @omnisky.net e-mail address (I talked to both Sales and Customer Support, and they said this is the ONLY way I can keep my existing e-mail address). Of course, if the VisorPhone starts shipping before OmniSky gets around to crediting my credit card, they'll get my $$$. =)

Question Wondering why?

Greetings All...

Just wondering what made people chose OmniSky service over the YadaYada. OmniSky uses AT&T and YadaYada uses both AT&T or Verizon.

I'm still mot sure what I will get.

Bye...

YadaYada vs Omnisky

Max, According to YadaYada's site, they do not have coverage yet for San Diego even though Verizon and AT&T are present wireless providers.. Omnisky does. So I had no choice.

Well, OmniSky is an established company (in the wireless PDA market, anyway), and YadaYada can't even get their website to function correctly. That, and a number of other things made my decision.

Me too

I ordered Omnisky Tuesday as well. I haven't been happy with Verizon's coverage for my digital phone and mobile web while traveling - may be a totally different proposition, but that shied me away from Yada a bit. Also, I actually used the Yada browser for a couple of days and I was very unhappy with it.

Talking Shipping Today

OK Folks, according to Omnisky, the modems are supposed to be shipping today. Let us know how these work as soon as you get them up and running!

RE: Wondering Why?

<<Just wondering what made people chose OmniSky service over the YadaYada. OmniSky uses AT&T and YadaYada uses both AT&T or Verizon. >>

I chose OmniSky because of the rebate offered. I had a VDX so that entitles me to the $100 mail-in rebate. They are also currently offering the Holiday Special. Omnisky will send credit back $200 if I continue to use their service for 6 months. All total, I could get the modem for free

If it's free, it's for me

Unhappy Shipping on Wednesday????

Hi all,

I just got off the phone with a customer service representative and she told me that the modems will not be shipping out until Wednesday. All this time I thought that they would be shipping today...

Has anyone else gotten this story from OmniSky? I hope they are not having a supply chain problem...

Regards,
Ron Querido

Shipping Date

Well, the order page for the Visor modem on OmniSky's website says that they're shipping on 11/6. I ordered overnight shipping, so I guess I'll know for sure tomorrow morning.

Confirmed shipping on Wednesday

Hi all,

I just got off the phone with another customer service representative and she confirmed that all of the modems are being shipped on Wednesday.

In my case, she told me that they upgraded my shipment to Overnight shipping at no charge. I will have to wait and see what shows up on my credit card statement because I originally ordered 2nd day shipping. I was leary of the no charge and she assured me that I would not have to pay any shipping charges.

Anyone who reads this, might want to give their customer service center a call and check on the date of shipping and whether or not they will charge you for shipping.

Regards,
Ron Querido

Smile

Well, I just got an e-mail from OmniSky this morning telling me that my order was shipped today. Looks like they comprimised and started shipping on the 7th. Looks like tomorrow will be quite the tech day, what with my Alienware box also coming.

Ordered on 11/2 and was told it would ship on Monday and I'd have today. When 10:30 came and went - FedEx - and no module I called and was told that none of them would ship until tomorrow due to a temporary backorder issue.

Those of you who got your email confirmations be happy. Mine is now due on Thursday.

No matter I still have my other Palm Vx and Minstrel Omnisky modem - guess I'm relegated to carrying two PDA's for a few more days.

Unhappy No record at Fedex yet

I also got the confirmation e-mail that stated that the modem will be shipped out today, but using the tracking umbr they gave me on the Fedex site, they have yet to scan that package. Maybe they just packaged them up and they're all going out tomorrow?

Unhappy RE: I orderd my OmniSky

I have had this modem for quite some time now, and have posted a few thoughts on the modem, the service, its looks, etc.

I did it in the spirit of letting people in on what it was all about and was prepared to answer questions, as I have been beta testing this product for almost seven months, but no one ever asked me any questions. I could have even told you how it would work on the Visor Prism, as I got that early to report my remarks on the modem's compatibility to Handspring. I even offered to post pictures of the thing if someone had told me how to do it (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8718)

So now when I see certain posts from people who are still waiting for the modem that they will post their insights, a flood of replies come back.

I was only trying to help, but I guess either no one believed me or didn't care to hear from me at the time.

Anyway, if you still want to know anything, I'm about as qualified as anyone to tell you what you want to know. I would suggest even MORESO, as I have it, and a lot of other people don't.

Cheers!
