As a service to all of you Newbies, and any others that might want to know, I did a search on "vinyl" on VisorCentral and found that the best web page with the information on how to create a screen protector is on Yahoo.

I only put it here, not for my ego, but to give a good piece of information to anyone that might want to create a screen protector for their Visor that only costs $.65 for a lifetime supply. (the cost of 1/4 yd of 8 guage vinyl from a fabric store.)

As an aside, I didn't use the oil they recommend, and only have very very tiny bubbles that I only see in a reflection. I was just nervous about the oil.

Good luck - the vinyl approach works GREEEAAAT.

yes.. I agree.. it works perfect with my visor. It's the cheapest alternative for screen protection.

Been using plain old vinyl (8 ga) since I got my Visor 7 weeks ago. It holds up extremely well (I've only changed it once so far) and provides a good feel when using the stylus. The only drawback is slightly more glare but I feel that's a small price to pay to keep from getting scratches in the screen.

Guess I'm the contrarian. I've tried the vinyl route, and found the bubbles and glare too annoying - - especially in comparison to a friend's Palm III with WriteRights. So I took the hit in the wallet, but am satisfied with the screen appearance and the feel with the WriteRights. In fact, the textured writing surface works particularly well with the included stylus or the relatively light weight colored styli. On the bubble issue, I think the tacky coating on the underside of the WriteRights makes the difference. If one could find a bulk source for untextured vinyl with the tacky coating of the WriteRights, I think you'd have a "good enough" solution - - especially if you treated the outside of the vinyl with a something to slicken it, and used a heavy stylus.

Go to Kinko's, buy this stuff called CLEER-ADHEER. It's $2.50 for two 8 1/2 x 11 sheets. The stuff is used to laminate documents, so it is sticky on one side. It's a little tricky to put on, but it works great for me.
