Smudges?!

I was writing a longer rant about Handspring's recent mistakes (i.e. the 12-pin Edge serial connector), but it got lost in a browser reload... so here's the short version:

Who wants a handheld computer that has a casing that attracts fingerprints, smudges, grease, dust, etc? I was gonna get one of these, but wow have they completely lost my business... News Flash: The VDX plastic was just fine! Thoughts?

I hear ya. A big belt-bound object like the Visorphone on a Graphite Deluxe gets enough comments around the office as it is (not all positive.) Unfortunately, all of the new models have been made in attention grabbing colors. I'm not fond of glossy, flashy devices, and the use of silver paint that can wear off kind of peeves me. I carry my Deluxe in the plastic slide holster, and don't think a painted finish would last more than a couple of weeks for me, judging by my up-down arrow keys. I can't really guess how the Neos would attract fingerprints or how they would look with a few scuffs and scratches. They look pretty on the store shelves though.

Looks great tho

IMHO, I feel that the new Visor Neos are very classy.

The plastic looks like tinted glass, as well as the Hard Cover.
Reminds me of those dining tables that you see in posh furniture showrooms..

I'd love to get one of the Neos, but the 8MB puts me off.
I already have a 8MB Deluxe ~ along with a CF Adapter, the FlashPlus and a Backup Module, so... a change of handheld to Palm or SONY will be quite stupid... so, I will be sticking to a Handspring one for my next PDA

Unhappy You have got to be kidding...

Smudges happen. An old motorcycle trick is to coat any clear visor (as in helmet visor) with a coat of clear wax. Pledge spray wax also works There is a product called "Star Tech Anti-glare screen cleaner" which is made specifically for computer screens. It gets rid of dust, dirt, oil and smudges as well as controling static. There is no silicone or amonia in it so it won't hurt any finish. The wax would prevent the smudges from ever happening and the Star Tech will keep them nice and clean.
