I don't have my Visor yet (and won't until after Halloween ) but while patiently waiting (and downloading lots of software), I have come across a few graffiti replacements. This will be my first PDA and I wanted to get some opinions on these graffiti replacements. I realize that they probably have a higher learning curve than graffiti, but I am not concerned with that. My main concerns would be accurracy and speed. So if any (to be) Visor users (or Palm users) use a graffiti replacement that you would recommend, let me know. Thanks.

I became a little less revved about Quickwriting once I found out it wouldn't work in "popup" programs like Brainstorm. But it still looked like you could pick up some serious speed if you practiced.

I found Grafitti very easy to learn. The one thing to remember is to write BIG. Do that and you shouldn't have much problem getting to 98% accuracy.

Of course, since it's your first PDA, I'd of course recommend:
1) Input your initial set of data using the Palm Desktop software on your PC/Mac.
2) If you'll need to input a LOT of data on the road, look into a GoType or other keyboard.

CIC's Jot. It recognizes more methods of letters and you can configure it to accept input on the whole screen. You can find it at www.palmgear.com and search for Jot.

Also, you don't have to "shift" for capital letters there is a method for accomplishing.

However, it will not increase your input speed over Graffiti. There are several other inputs as well. Go to www.the-gadgeteer.com and review there input methods.

Forget about replacements. Graffiti is totally a piece of cake to master. My very non-technical boss learned it in less than a day. It's already in the system, most built-in apps have a command to pop-up the graffiti help screen...

One thing I would do that I used to be skeptical of is loading "MiddleCapsHack" so that you can write capital letters between the letter and number sections of the writing area. I didn't think I'd like it that much, but after a week, it's really quite a nice little addition (no more need for a "Shift" stroke).

Try TealScript. Basically, it will let you redefine/tweak any or all of the graffiti input characters to your liking.

I've got a friend with a CE device, and he uses an app from Paragraph called CalliGrapher ( http://www.paragraph.com/ ). Unfortunately it's only available for CE devices, but my reason for posting this is that it appears to bury the single character input like Jot and others, as it's a "natural handwriting recognition" tool. From what I've seen, it's quite accurate, and allows you to write just as you normally would. It's pretty slick.

Graffiti is nice for limited notes, but it's kind of tough to take full notes, like in a meeting or similar. It works, but not as fast as natural handwriting...
