help! backlight not working!

Any ideas for how to determine what is wrong with the visor if the backlight stops working? Could it be a battery problem? An LCD problem? A motherboard problem? Has anyone else had this problem, that the backlight just stopped working, after flickering for a few days? Thanks so much fo any advice!
