what are the dimensions of the Handspring Modem? How far does it stick out the back? Off the top? What is that slot on the top next to the phone line hookup (as seen on Handspring's site picture)? The site also has a very small front picture that shows a round button? or sticker on the front facing part of the modem...what is it?

My modem does not have the narrow slot that is shown on the Handspring's picture. I thought that this was either for status lights or a slot for connecting to a cell phone.

As to the dimensions: when inserted, the back adds about 7/16" to the Springboard slot; the top adds about 3/4" to the Visor. The top where the phone jack is located is 1 7/8" while the bottom that touches the top the Visor is 2 1/8".

The modem runs on 2 AAA batteries and it is claimed in the manual that they are good for up to three hours of operating. We shall see...

The button on the front initiates HotSync via the modem. That is something I have been unable to do. It probably has something to do with my Mac clone and OS 8.5. It has problems with having both modem and USB boxes checked in the Setup window.

I used ProxiWeb to surf the web. Some sites showed OK some did not.

I hope that I will be able to configure everything to HotSync via the modem. Also, I need access to e-mail while traveling.

interesting..you just reminded my of something. the Handspring modem module comes in the 'battery' module type plastic mo(u)ld. and if i remember correctly, the six pack doesn't come in this mo(u)ld type but in the standard module type. That makes me wonder if the six pack will have a significant power draw from the visor? Considering that it won't have it's own power source like the Handspring modem.

Have you noticed on the Innogear's SixPak web page the three cables. The one in the module looks like the regular phone line, the second appears to be for the cell phones, while the third looks like a power supply cable.

I am not sure that I would like to carry a power supply with me on my trips. I just can not imagine that they are going to get all six functions running on the Visor's batteries.

You're right! I must've seen that picture a dozen times and never paid attention! That definately looks like a power cable...i wonder if you're correct in assuming that the module will require a power cable or charging of some sorts??

I know that a representative from Innogear reads some of this site. If that person reads this thread, could you please comment on the power requirements of the Six Pack?
