Question

While I'm not so patiently waiting for my Blue Visor Deluxe (my first trip into palm computing) I thought I'd tap in to the VAST pool of wisdom that hangs out here . . .

What's available for Lotus Notes and if there's more than one package out there ... which do you recommend?

At first I was using Lotus' own EasySync, which worked pretty well for me... at least until I tried to sync with a second PC. I wanted to use my office PC for Notes synching, and my home PC for synching with other applications (Netscape Messenger for e-mail, and the standard Palm Desktop for everything else)... the problem is that EasySync does some funky things to the formatting of the information on your Palm, and other programs can't read it. Synching with Palm Desktop (after synching with EasySync at work) results in entries with garbage text.

I then purchased the Pylon Conduit from GlobalWare Computing (http://www.gc.com). So far it's working out very well for me... it's tightly integrated with Notes (all the conduit settings are placed in your Notes Location documents), and you can also sync more than just the "standard" (Address Book, Mail, Calendar) databases with your Palm applications. I'm currently having a problem with my Palm's outgoing mail not being sent
(which may or may not be due to a "user issue" ) but otherwise I HIGHLY reccommend the Pylon Conduit (and no I DON'T work for the company... I DO work for IBM though, so if anything, I should be pumping up EasySync).

Wizard,

I don't have Notes, but I use Lotus Organizer. So far I haven't had any problems with EasySynch. However, it's limited. I want more of my contact information fields transfered to my Visor, like multiple e-mail addresses, webpages, birthdays, spouses etc.

I use SuperNames as my contact/address book, but with EasySynch, I would still have to hand-enter all the extra fields. I'm not real excited about that.

You mentioned the Pylon Conduit. Do you think that can help with transferring the extra fields to SuperNames. Or do you know of another 3rd party contact/address book out there that will meet my needs?

Thanks in advance.

I am also a Pylon user with Lotus Notes--it's wonderful.

As far as the Lotus Organizer goes, I would go to the Globalware website(www.gc.com)and ask--they can tell you whether or not the extra fields will transfer. For myself, I have Pylon synch with the Datebook and e-mail, but I don't like the Notes name and address so Pylon skips it and Hot Synch uses the built-in address book with the Palm desktop addressbook.

Best of luck!

Thumbs up

Probably the best syncing software, and also the most versatile is Intellisync..it can be used with Lotus Organizer, Notes, Outlook, etc..
