Question

Someone earlier in one of the other threads mentioned that PI will be coming out with a new design of the Memplug in which the SM card does not stick out at all. Can someone from PI confirm or deny this? If this is true, it would have been nice to know this earlier! I have jumped through about 150 different flaming hoops over the last month in order to get my Memplug from Palmgear. I finally get it, and less than two weeks later I hear that there will be a new design (which would be REALLY advantageous for me, since the sticking-out card is somewhat precarious in my E&B Slipper Prism case). If I had known this earlier, I would have simply waited for the new design! Darn it all!

I guess it will be safe to assume there will be no offers from PI or Palmgear to trade these in and get the new design at a reduced rate, kind of like an upgrade, huh?

Man, this really angers and frustrates me. But then again, I have been used to frustration when it comes to Memplug and Palmgear lately (just in getting one, not with the actual product).

I'll presume where it's been about a month and a half since I ordered mine, I may end up with the new one. If it'll help you out and I get the new one (provided the new CF product doesn't come out which the Kopsis Guy's been taking about) I'd be happy to trade. I use the plastic holster from HS for my VDx so the sticking out factor isn't important to me.

Mike,

That is so nice of yu to offer! Just keep me posted as to when (or if ) you get yours, and we can work something out if possible.

Again, thanks again for such a nice offer!

Oh, Oh, Oh,
That picture made me really jealous.

Today, I received the 64mb SM card that was suggested by a visorcentral post. $47 @newegg.com

Now, all I need is the memplug.

I'm going to put a backup on my 64, a dictionary, thesaurus, and lots of SplashPhoto pics. My 8mb is very full and operating really slow. I hope I can use quickbits or afterburner with the memplug.

Of course, if you have the old (current) version of the Memplug, you CAN cut off the part of the Smartmedia that extends beyond the Memplug. That's what I've done and it now fits very well into my Slipper case. (And backs up data just dandy still).

lol.. And I thought I was crazy.
That's akin to chopping off a piece of curcuit board when you don't know what's sandwiched in between.

Re: cutting off the jutting piece of the card, I wonder how you would be able to pull out the card and replace it with another? Unless of course you think that one card is all you need, ever!!

Wk

Guys, there is no circuit board or anything sandwiched inbetween, its all on those gold little contacts - just don't mess with them. The main difference between SmartMedia & Compact Flash is that CF has all of its controllers onboard, SMC don't.

Supposedly its not that hard to remove...

Old design-new design. I don't care. Just maiiiiil it!

How on earth can my Vpr be full? Palm OS apps are so small.

I can't even load SAT hangman, and it's free now!

My Avantgo is huge, my DocstoGo-huge, my SplashPhoto-huge, I will be happy to put Browse-it on my 64mb smc too.

Palmgear site still says 5/20 ship date. They better....
