Question

I'm suddenly having sync problems since moving from a deluxe to a platinum. each sync ends as a failure with the log showing something similar to:

[note the last line -- the file changes per sync, but the results are the same]

HotSync operation started 11/15/00 19:31:38
OK Mail
OK Date Book
OK Address Book
OK To Do List
OK Memo Pad
OK Mobile Application Link
OK Expense
-- Backing up db AvGoPref to file C:\Program
... [more of the same, then finally]
-- Backing up db HHGTTGLC4050 to file C:\Program Files\Palm\BrayJ\Backup\HHGTTGLC4050.PDB
System synchronization failed
Protocol Error: Handheld file not found. (4003)
HotSync operation complete 11/15/00 19:35:13

it's always the same -- protocol error and failure.

note, i just installed the new patch from handspring, and nothing changed.

i'm wondering if anyone else has similar problems? am i all alone in the world? :-( anyone have any suggestions?

john

I upgraded form a deluxe to a platinum and it's syncing fine...except for some oddball Vindigo password probl;em, buyt that's no big deal and i suspect i'll sort that out eventually.

have you definitely identified the owner of the platinum the same as the deluxe?

the software has to KNOW that you're the same user.

sorry i cannot be more helpful.

Exclamation Something in your backup folder

Something in your backup folder is causing the problem!! Get rid of your backup folder. Go to C:/program files/palm/yourusername/ and remove the folder called "backup" (either right click and delete or drag to desktop).

Removing the backup folder won't affect your data (addresses etc)...but you will need to install all your third party apps fresh.
