Haha

Foo I still see you predicting the demise of Handspring in the PIC Forums. I think you should get out of the prediction business since you are always wrong. You predicted more than two reays ago that Handspring will be dead ina year. well Handspring is still standing. I remember when you were overly excited when the first PPC came out predicting that it will catch on ..and there will be doom and gloom for the Palm OS world. Well that hasn't happened either...

As for why I don't hang out at VisorCentral....well that should be obvious. Visor is dead....no need for discussion.

Current mobile gear: Zire 71, Dell Axim.

Been here a long time but was always mostly a lurker checking in several times a day - now down to a couple times a month. Learned a lot on these boards always considered it one of the best and most helpful. Nice to see some familiar posters back. Wonder whatever happened to the sue-happy patent guy?

Still have my original Black Visor Deluxe ordered on the first day available and then waited thru the back order fiasco - anyone else remember that?

Invested in way too many Springboards but in the long run I guess it saved me $$$ since I didn't buy every new pda as they came out. Almost got a prism but by then the handwriting was on the wall so went to the m130.

I still use them both although the VDX is mostly a backup. Have been eyeing the new T|C with the mega memory but not sold on the thumbboard and would really like virtual graffiti.

When Wes left maybe?

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

Joined VisorCentral when the Visor line debued. Main concern for me was data backup capability when I was away from my desktop.
Windows CE devices were too expensive.
So the Backup module with my Visor Deluxe sold me. During the time I had the Visor, I really enjoyed the VisorCentral site. Was real helpful in deciding on software and other accessories.

My son now has my Visor since I have a Dell Axim.
Have been very happy with it. Mainly went to Pocket PC so that I could use my SQL 2000 databases and port my apps over from VB via .NET.

PPC interface is not complicated for me as a Windows developer.

However, others still like the Palm OS simplicity. Case in point was
my brother-in-law; he was using a Vtech PDA which he was happy with.

Unfortunately it died. I recommended he pick up a Sony Clie that was on sale, since the Vtech used the Palm OS, and he was able to load his data onto the Clie. He was overjoyed with not having to re-enter his data.

I recommended the Clie because of it's simplicity and it's size. All he uses it for is appointments, tasks and contacts.

I was sorry to see that Handspring left the organizer business. However, it didn't suprise me. Ever since the VisorPhone module was out, I had a feeling that this was the direction Handspring
was headed. It made sense. Most phones had PDA functionality build on top of the phone operating system.

The Treo's have the phone and PDA integrated. However, I wouldn't buy one since it has no backup capability.

Slot!!! good to see you could make it.

Foo has a Zire 71 already? Man you don't waste time. Nice device. How's the display on it? I've read its fairly bright. I still love my NX70v though

Ok guys, I'm ordering pizza. Hmm, I think we'll need quite a few pies. No anchovies please

As far as drinks goes, where that guy that who set up Bar taps for a living? Haven't seen him post here in a long time. I think he had that stick figure avatar.

I checked one out at Office Depot a few minutes ago, and I'm not getting the hype. It's a nice screen, but with all the raves, I was expecting a quantum leap. It's a nice screen, though. I also wasn't feeling the case, dawg. I hate to be the voice of dissension (heh...right), but I have to agree with the Gadgeteer review. I don't think the back is metal either. *slips into nomex*

He never has--hell, I think he had an Edge before the Handspring executives did!

Ouch, I'm hurt you didn't include me in your list!!!

Joined in the first days of VisorCentral, but haven't been very active since I moved to a Clie (now using a NR70, but tempted to upgrade now that there's a CF driver...)

The NX70 (the NR70 doesn't have a CF slot, and the NZ is too much of a brick even for me). Actually, all the excitement about the new Clie CF driver (and subsequent discussion about limitations and workarounds) remind me of the early days when dkessler introduced the flash adapter software...

That pre-dates VisorCentral by several years...wow, you have been here a long time!

IC I have an NR70V too and have been thinking about the NX too...
But am waiting it out and see what will happen in the future.. the Tungsten C looks pretty good too and Garmin will (hopefully) launch their Palm OS GPS unit soon too...

Yeah, the NX isn't perfect and I'm trying to wait but I'm addicted to hi-res with virtual graffiti (and a jog dial) because I love reading e-books, and right now Sony's the only game in town.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the message Mike...yea, it sure has been a long time. I've just been so busy...my junior year in HS. Right now AP exams, SATs, and ACTs are all coming up... depressing time of you, so much studying to do.
Anyway...I still visit when I have time, and right now I'm back to using a silver Visor Edge. I just love that PDA...I'll go back to SONY when I go off to college though...SONY is coming out with some CRAZY PDAs right now...

Haha, which clie you got now mike??

All right...take it easy guys...nice to catch up on some things

Cool thread. I still consider myself an old-timer of this board. This was the first MessageBoard I registered on and honestly, it is still the best one I have ever visited.

I still check back in but rarely post. I went from a Visor Deluxe, to a Visor Prism, to a CLIE 760 and then to my iPaq 3955. I still have both my Visor Deluxes and one is in perfect working order. It was my wife's and she almost never used it. The thing is, my iPaq does everything I need. I use it daily, but I have no need to upgrade or change.

Once I got the iPaq and upgraded to XP on my home machine, I spent most of my time on PocketPCPassion and TweakXP.

Then, last year, I bought a new car which I traded in January2003 for another car. Both BMW's, so now I spend virtually all of my MessageBoard time on Bimmerfest.com discussing cars. The forum there is a great deal like this one. Honestly, it is almost like the personalities of D-R, Toby and Septimus magically manifested themselves over there.

Regardless, I will likely continue to check in here at times.

It is nice to see all the old names and Avatars that made this site so great.

I'm sorry. Didn't anyone tell you? We're just artificial personalities which come with all discussion board software. Our names change depending on the forum, but it's still us.

heh...take the red pill.

Only then can I recognize the truth, there is no Message Board.

I don't know if I would be considered one of the old-timers here, a couple of years though. Like GRS13 this was the first Message Board I joined and even if I didn't post as many messages as others have I did stop here on an almost daily basis for quite some time. I learned so much information just reading and every once in a while posting. I started with a Palm II, went to a III, then to a Prism, then T665. After that was stolen I've gone without but will proably pull the Prism out and get it going.

Lately I've just been stopping back here four or five times a month just to catch up on the great off topic discussions. I've been spending quite a bit of time at another mesage board (I'm sorry). Earlier this month I started training to get my private pilot's license and use the boards at studentpilot.com. But it is good to come back here and "see" old friends again.
