Heck, I've even thought about building a car myself, just to get back into it. There's got to be an exhaust system with a sweeter tone, though.

I see that too, with the newer cars, of course.
Try a Flowmaster, vroom! vroom!

maybe I'm old... but:

At the advanced age of 29, I fail to see why kids today INSIST on buying a '93 dodge neon, then spending a pretty penny on outfitting it with big-@$$ tires, flowmasters and retrofitting the interior.

The neon is NOT a cool car, period. Spend the money on a 'Stang or some older cool car.

The low I saw: A kid gave this treatment to a '92 Saturn. I drive a saturn and appreciate it for its boring-ness (is that a word?).

I don't know. The older muscle cars aren't as plentiful as they used to be, and are commanding higher & higher prices as the ranks thin. Even the newer 'Stangs are in the $20k range. However, Neons & the like are plentiful and cheap. Buy one for 6 or 7k, throw another 7k or so at it, and it'll still be cheaper & faster (potentially) than the current crop of muscle cars.

I saw one of the new Neon SXT's a couple of weeks ago and was rather impressed. I think the sticker's around $14k for a car with Momo seats, low profile tires, and a 2.4L turbo. Granted it'll still need work to uncork all it's potential, but it definitely looked like a fun ride.

I used to think the same way, Neil, but these new cars can go! They also have WAY better suspensions to keep them on the road than the older cars did.

In responce to the guy saying he saw someone outfitting a 92 saturn, I can one-up you on that one, I've seen someone outfit a new (About 98) Ford Windstar with those low profile tires, a rear spoiler, window tinting, neon and the other junk. It looked so funny me and my friends couldn't stop laughing for like 1/2 an hour or so. I wish I had a camera on me that day...

As a fellow Vancouverite (well, Langleyite), I must ask, where do you live in Vancouver?

History's just repeating itself. That's all. It's what started the muscle car craze of the 60's, IHRA/NHRA drag racing, NASCAR, ..., actually most of today's racing got started this way.

Now, street racing is another matter. Though I realize it's going to happen anyway, I think the main racing bodies were (and still are, to a large extent) well behind the curve. They should have been out giving these guys a "safe" alternative to racing on the streets instead of snubbing them when the whole scene started.

As yes Kingsway...nice part of town...I'm stuck out in the boonies...some of my friends have never even been "downtown", it's like a BIG trip for them...sad, so sad. As for myself, I frequent the downtown core about twice a week and love it so much I want to live there (preferebly false creek or Yaletown...)

acutall, my interest in the mustang is waning.
small engine + big, albeit sporty car =sad accelleration.

If i could find a good deal, i'd still consider it, but right now, im leaning towards a CRX, if i can find one in good condition for the right price. which might be tough. they are kinda rare around here.

other than that... maybe a good old reliant k-kar. because i can have a decent one for 1/3rd the price of acheap mustang. reliable, lots of parts.... and I could buy a cool car next summer.

go for the CRX, they handle/perform a lot better than that mustang..
