One of the things that I want to do with my Visor is a database application. I run a server room with 50+ servers, and I need to keep track of a wide variety of information on each server - what OS it's running, what patches, what software, hardware information, etc, etc. It is amazingly inconvenient to have that in any paper format that I can carry around the server room with me, and I'd like to put that on my Visor, so that I can add categories, servers, etc, on the fly, and carry it around with me in the server room. It is also exceptionally important that I be able synchronize this with a version on my PC, for reports of various types, for printing hard copies, and so on. Synchronizing to MS Access or Lotus Notes would be ideal.

So, does any such thing exist? I looked at HandBase, which looks promising, but since I'm only running it on the POSE, it's a little hard to know if it will satisfy my needs.

I use JFile Pro for that exact same thing... I don't sync up with the desktop at this point, but I am working on an entirely proprietary system that I am writing myself to eclipse JFile...

My new system is based on mySQL on the server side w/ a Web interface and a conduit to my Palm app to keep everything in sync...

Oracle, Sybase SQL Anywhere and and IBM DB2 have been ported to the Palm platform. I can't tell you the specifics, but there should be some info on the respective web pages.

I'm definately interested in something that will work with MySQL. I do most of my database stuff with MS SQL Server 7.0 and MySQL, depending on what platform I'm working on at the time. MySQL is definately my favorite database to work with, and would be ideal for what I am trying to do in this case.

Being new to the Palm platform, is there any recommended database application that's "industry standard".

By that I mean, is there a particular program that tends to be more compatible than other ones (jFile, hanDbase, etc.)
