Just a reminder that both Handspring and Palm (as well as the various third-party companies) will have large exhibit booths set up next week at the MacWorld Expo. If you're in the city and haven't yet registered, I believe you can get into the exhibit floor for $25 (unless you know someone already going, who has a coupon for free admission).

The expo is being held at the Moscone Convention Center in downtown San Francisco from Tuesday, January 9 through 12.

David Pogue, author of a Palm Pilot user's guide, is giving a couple of presentations there regarding the use of the Palm with the Mac. Exact schedule is available at his own home page at http://www.davidpogue.com/bio.html.

Is this the first time they've attended a MW convention? They weren't at the one in NY this past summer, though there was a giant Handspring add hanging from the building across the street.

I remember visiting the Handspring booth at MacWorld in San Francisco last year. Palm was there also, showing off thier new version of Palm Desktop for the Mac.

Seeing the Visor at the Handspring booth and the new software at the Palm booth was the initial spark that led to me buying a Visor Deluxe last June.

I also saw two Springboards there that are STILL vaporware: the SixPak from Innogear and the 802.11b wireless Ethernet module from Xircom.

Yup; I saw both Handspring and Palm booths at the San Francisco MacWorld Expo a year ago. At that time, I'd had my own blue Vdx for a few weeks, so I was pretty excited to learn what there was available.

It's where I first saw the Stowaway Keyboard. At the time, they only had a beta model there (since you may recall it was not available to purchase for many months after that), but I think the rep had to wipe it up after I had a chance to drool all over it!!

I don't know about this year, but last year both Handspring and Palm had a bunch of small stuff to give away, like a pen cap stylus and regular cheap styli. They WERE periodically giving away free PDAs but I didn't win any.

I'm hoping to spend a lot of time at those booths this year and just be generally nosey. As a woman sometimes I feel like I'm being ignored (what, do I really have to wear a crisp three-piece suit and dangle money on front of these guys to notice me?) but I'm learning how to deal with these computer conventions. I just ignore the exhibit bunnies (the "models" that are hired to wear skimpy clothing and hawk wares but who don't know Mac from McDonald's). Heh.

Thread *bumped up* with new info

Hi folks! Just wanted to let you know that you can download a standalone guide to MacWorld Expo to download into your Visor at http://www.palmtoppublishing.com/macworldexpo/. According to it, Handspring is at booth #507 in the exhibit floor.
