There is a commercial program called Qex that will convert a Palm *.pdb file (that contains a Palm doc format file) into an IBM Windows *.txt file. It will also convert back again.

It is available at http://www.palmgear.com

Klaymen-
I use a utility called MakeDocW to convert .txt files to (Palm) .doc files (and visa-versa) that can be read on the Visor by a document reader program. You can get it at...http://www.aportis.com/resources/AportisDoc/makedocutilities.html

I also use SmartDoc (http://www.cesinc.com) as my document reader because it also allows you to write/change the documents on the handheld as well as read them. It's basically a word processor for the Visor.

You can start a new document in SmartDoc (there's no limit to size like memopad!) and just start typing. When you hotsync, a file will be saved in your Palm backup folder on your PC. Use MakeDocW to convert this file to a .txt file which can be edited in Windows WordPad or Notepad. When you want to convert back to palm .doc use MakeDocW the other direction and reinstall the file on the handheld. When you are ready to print it out, get the final .txt file into MS Word, do all the formatting/spell checking etc... and print.

It sounds complicated but it's not too bad. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying Documents to Go or some other Visor to MS Word conduit. MakeDocW is free and SmartDoc is ~$20. I've written a whole term paper this way now that I have my GoType!

The touch on the keyboard is a little rougher than I was expecting, but does not have the "lag" problem the serial keyboard had. I just have to remember to strike the spacebar a little firmer than normal.

I've had it for a while now, and it's holding up very well. I really like the ability to set up an instant mini-office anywhere.

Oh, the black post-it notes are real. I use a Pentel Milky gel roller (#K106) to write on them. They really stand out from other post-its. Now if they'd only make the tiny pads, so I could fit some into my Springboard slot...
