How far does the infra red signals reachs? And if I sit in one side of the room, I would be able to send info/data to the guy sitting at the opposite side of the room, right? But what if it's the guy next to me? Would I have to turn around and point the IR-port at his Visor? I'd guess that you would, but it would be fun to be able to send it to any person in the room, without moving.

Is it possible to send messages to people, like SMS between the cellular phones. Imagine a whole class at a school having a Visor, sending messages to each other all the time. I'd guess the teacher wouldn't like that hehe!

And one last question: Does Visor understand what a PALM beam? Both of them uses Palm OS, and they should be pretty much compatible. But are the information which is sent through the IR-port compatible with the 2 of them?

From what I understand if you use the bluetooth springboard when it comes out you will be able to send messages to anyone within 30 feet of you. (Bluetooth is a wireless hardware and protocol spec ... see www.bluetooth.net for the gory details.)

The Visor is supposedly going to be the first product on the market to support bluetooth.

I think he was asking about sending without aiming to anyone in the room. Wasn't he?

Sorry...yes, IR is optical, so it is line-of-sight only. You need to be within a fairly narrow cone to recieve the beam.
