Exclamation

I got a call from a friend of mine that works for the local NBC news and they needed a Palm 'expert' to ask questions regarding the Liberty Virus!

They just asked me a few questions about the Palm, and I kept calling mine a Visor by Handspring. They wanted to know about the virus, what it does, how to fix it, etc.

I just had to share this...I think it is too cool. Hopefully she will do as I asked and put my URL under my name so I can get some hits and sell some Palm and Visor accesories through my Amazon.com affiliation!

PS - I forgot to mention the Screen Protector Boycott! Damn!

i'm confident you told them that this 'virus' was not as large as the media is making it. that it's easily fixed (desktop overwrites Handheld) unlike your PC, and that it currently only affects people who try to install a 'cracked' version of Liberty.

i'm tired of the media turning this into DOOMSDAY!

Yes, I mentioned that it was more of an inconvenience than a serious problem. It isn't going to delete files like ILOVEYOU. And I did explain that the only way to get the virus was by trying to crack someone elses software.

Ahhh... we are in the presence of a celebrity now... Can I have your autograph?

Congratulations... I'm sure you represented the Visor (and PalmOS) community quite well.

Naturally Mark ment he wanted you to beam your autograph.

Has anyone noticed that the folks that hang out here at VC are "experts" compaired to the general population? Heck, my work has named me the unofficial expert too. Good news is that it resulted in more sales for HANDSPRING

Somehow I got the label at work for being the Visor expert. We just got notice that the company will reimbuse us up to 200.00 for a pda, so everybody and there mother has been coming up to me asking me questions.
I've converted at least 6 people and 12 others are still debating..

You should sign up as an Amazon.com affiliate or Handspring affiliate. Make a few bucks......

I sell Palms, Visors, and accessories on my site. Anytime I convince someone to buy one, I tell them to buy it through my site. Makes me $10 on each Visor!

Oh, and I would have loved to mention VC on the news.....I tried to get her to mention my site. She said she would, but she only metioned I had a site, not the URL.

Argh!

Cool

Yup, I converted (introduced actually, they were newbies) 6 at work and 7 at home...then they converted some and so on...

I actually get a lot of satisfaction just seeing the little light bulbs go off

I know the feeling. My husband and I got Visors for each other for Christmas last year -- and one for our daughter. Then our daughter got one for her husband. Several of my quilting friends have gotten them after seeing mine. My 2-year-old granddaughter wanted one, so we gave her a very old "Mr. Professor" (aw, heck, the lights still blinked), and she calls it her Visor!

I got one for Christmas, then managed a multi-purchase for my spouse and parents! My six-year-old has assured me, though, that since he knows I'll want a color screen when they're available, he'll be happy to have my old non-color Visor for himself! Until then, he's getting more adept at using it than my father is!!

Unhappy

I have a confession..
I can't live life in a lie..

I don't actually own a visor yet. Can't afford one . So I ca ngive advice and everything, and know everything about the visor, but I don't acutally have one. *sob sob* If I get good grades my parents say they will get me one for 2nd semester. It will help me with school hehe. My handwriting is unreadable, even by me. I hope to get a next generation visor, and a stowaway. And maybe one day get a canon printer that works on battery power and has IR and will work just by IR. (So it will work with a palm, without a PC So.. sad me ..

i have been labeled an expert, by people at staples when I was explaing the visor and palm and other stuff to my parents. The guy at the counter knew nothing!!!

I'm kind of a Palm expert at school too. In one of my computer classes when we went over PDAs I was asked to haul it out and show it off (and my Stowaway). A girl in that class is probably going to get a Visor soon too now--so I've done my work! . The favorite app of theirs was my "PortaMonkey", and its "bunny" feature. It stopped the class for a good 30 seconds .

I was just reading an article on MSNBC by Roger Ebert where he wrote

"There must be few places on earth more wired than the Cannes Film Festival, where everyone except me has both a cell phone and a palmtop device and experiences a palpable joy in using them."

This made me wonder if there are any other "celebrities" besides RCLAYTON here at VisorCentral.

We seem to have such a diverse crowd here, it makes you wonder who is out there.
